Elegant - and simple!

Note that depending on how the printing to PDF is executed, the PDF may be
transformed in the process. Specifically, image quality may be altered.
In some cases, this is definitely a feature rather than a bug, reducing the
PDF to a reasonable size. YMMV, try it and see if it works for your
purposes.
