Folks,
I'm in the middle of a personal server migration, and although it is
going well, it dawned on me that folks on this list might have a set
of best practices with regard to doing such a thing.
Anyone care to share?
Things that I'm currently moving and having to plan are:
- IMAP mail
- Printer queues (supports iPad/iPhone, Windows, OSX, Linux, PDF)
- File shares
- Virtual Machine Hosting (VMWare and VirtualBox)
- Web Server(PHP, Ruby, others)
- SSH access
- Database (MySQL, Postgres)
I'm still in the testing phase of the new server to ensure all the
pieces work before I completely migrate the entire box.
Any ideas or gotchas would be helpful to hear.
Thanks.
Mike B.
