Hmm! The story I *heard* is that Mr. Gates purchased an OS called
QDOS, already fully coded by a Seattle programmer for about 50
grand.
I don't know where I heard it, but I think it is safe to say
that M$ - for good (unlikely) or for bad (more likely) - built (or
purchased) an OS made from scratch. Not that there is anothing
wrong with that :).
