Gconf (if it looks like a registry and quacks like a registry...)
Upstart
Network Manager
compiz
Whatever the majors (Yes ubuntu, I'm looking at you) are using to envelope =
grub.

And those are just the grumbles I can think of off the top of my head.

I want a 'quit trying to help me' button.

Fortunately, being linux, there are kiss alternatives (arch comes to mind).
Unfortunately, being linux, Managers only want to use distros that they rec=
all seeing something about in the Wall Street Journal.

But that's a whole 'nother rant.
