You crack me up Art. I didn't even take sides! :)
I don't want to argue either for or against it at this point. The one =20
point that is ringing true with me at the moment though is that you do =20
one thing and do it well.

Nothing to disagree with here either. Maybe that is what the silence =20
you are getting is about....they all agree with you! :)
Some of the commentary isn't well thought out and many of the people =20
make conjecture and guesses that could be right on or completely off.

I propose that instead of arguing, or trying to logic our way into a =20
particular position, we actually work to make it fail with simple =20
specific purposeful problems. It should be easy to do if it is =20
'overly complex and buggy blob'.
Something demonstrable (<-note the sorta play on words) is much more =20
effective than arguing one point or another with logic.
The other thing that needs to be brought to light is that the entirety =20
of that conversation was many internet years ago.
My main point was to ensure that I show proper appreciate to Jim for =20
making my life just a little easier by pointing me to what might be =20
considered close to the beginning of implementing systemd distribution =20
wide.
Who among you are willing to actively work toward breaking systemd to =20
prove its inabilities?
This process might actually educate us in ways we never thought possible.
If you are looking for a place to start, just look at the link Jim =20
provided or hijack some of the other comments that were made in the =20
link and in our own thread of this conversation.
