Try using
# smartctl --all /dev/sdx
and see if you are getting any SMART errors (assuming your drives support SMART). Hm, I
forgot to look and see if your drives show as sdx or hdx.
If you are RAID1, (which iirc is 'mirrored'), then there probably won't be a problem at
the lvm level. Only reason I'm thinking that is that I've got a 'bad stripe' problem
with a RAID5 at work.
