If you mean VirtualBox from Oracle, there is a OSE version, it is GPL. The source
is available but I am thinking most/all the work on it is in house, but gpl is
gpl.

As joshua points out, GNU/Linux has KVM, which afaikt, is being promoted (by some)
as the libre solution.
