Yeah, I would - that slow performance seems like an outlier.

I believe that there is a way to widget that (though I don't remember
what it is) so that the suggestions are turned off. You can sniff the
traffic and see that your searchy bits aren't getting shipped away.

As soon as there's any JavaScript of any complexity, the speed
differences really show up. There's some leapfrog among browsers in
that regard as well, but Chrome made some painful apps actually usable
for me.
