I'm basically just documenting this so I don't forget later... but
thought someone on this list might benefit:
What I did to try YouTube HTML5:
1. Downloaded a nightly build of Firefox, which is "WebM" capable.
2. Turned on HTML 5 beta mode at YouTube
3. Did a YouTube video search. (In my case, I searched for the keyword
"Linux".)
4. After getting the results, altered the results by adding "&webm=1" to
the end of the page URL and reloading.
5. Clicked on a video. First, an HTML5 icon appeared, then the video played.
I know it was not played by Flash Player, because I had uninstalled
Flash player after a sobering look at the new license for Flash Player
10. (Side note: I'm about to give gnash a try, but I am aware that gnash
can't play some YouTube videos.)
