Linux doesn't care about your domain.

The only problem with .local is that avahi-daemon likes to use .local as a =
pseudo-tld, which can cause some issues with Samba in a .local active direc=
tory domain.

I think most of those issues have been resolved, but I still purge avahi in=
 a business environment.
