Grub uses module files. Grub2 does as well. With Grub2 the following is available to
grub. I assume this is because it works.
Grub2 (grub-pc)
spencersr@buckaroo:~$ dpkg -L grub-pc | grep jfs
/usr/lib/grub/i386-pc/jfs.mod
Grub1 (grub)
gw01:~# dpkg -L grub | grep jfs
/usr/lib/grub/i386-pc/jfs_stage1_5
