That error usually means that your attempting to open the file with an
older version of Reader than what the file was created for. But it
sounds like at least one of you computers is running Adobe Reader 9.3,
so I doubt that's it. I tend to suspect an issue with the file itself.
It might be getting garbled in transmission as well.

If you weren't already trying on different computers, I'd suggest Reader
be re-installed. You are, so I'll suggest instead of trying to open it
in the browser, download it to your desktop (right-click the link)
instead and try opening from there.

You should have more than 1 pdf reader program available on your Linux
box, try some of the others and see if one of them gets you past the
error.
