[aklug] Alaska Linux Users Group - and Friday Night Linux

From: barsalou <barjunk@attglobal.net>
Date: Mon Sep 14 2009 - 22:48:48 AKDT

After having discussion with the Highland Tech Principal (Dr. Ginger
Blackmon) and most of the core folks that show up on Friday nights, we
produced the following set of guidelines. Let me know if there are
things that need to be clarified so we can work to do that.
We are aiming at September 25th for our first Friday night linux. Enjoy! :)

  AKLUG Responsibilities:

    - Absolutely no smoking in the building or in the parking lots.
This is a school district policy

    - All AKLUG events need approval and need to be on the Highland Tech
Calendar before they are considered effective.

    - Any concurrent events are at the sole discretion of the Highland
  Tech Principal.

    - When guests from the school (i.e. students or teachers) appear at
the meetings, AKLUG members will make every effort to help them and
treat them as if they are already a member of AKLUG.

    - Monthly scheduled presentations will occur on the second Friday of
  each month.

    - Friday Night Linux will go from 6pm - 11pm, only on previously
  scheduled Friday.

    - The facility must be configured as it was before any meeting started.

    - AKLUG may provide technical assistance to the school, preferably
during a Friday Night Linux session or other mutually agreed upon time
  frame.

  Highland Tech Responsibilities:

    - Any annoyance or perceived violation of usage rules will be
reported immediately to Ginger Blackmon (Highland Tech) and Mike
  Barsalou (AKLUG).

    - Any annoyance or perceived violation will result in immediate
suspension of the next meeting until both parties have discussed the
issue and come to a reasonable conclusion.

    - Highland Tech can stop access to the facility at any time for any
reason for any length of time with no notice.

    - Changes to the school schedule that create conflicts should be
communicated to AKLUG as soon as humanly possible so notifications and
  arrangements can be made.

    - At least two faculty members should join the AKLUG mail list to
stay in touch with what is going on with the group. It is possible to
browse the archives instead of getting e-mails...this is also
  acceptable.

    - It would be appreciated to have feedback on a regular basis
(quarterly?) so we can move in a direction that aligns with Highland
  Tech's educational purpose.

    - Highland Tech will provide power, access to the lavatories, and a
space to house approximately 30 people, free of charge.

    - Occasional use of a classroom will be permitted for demonstrations
  and lectures.
