If you'd like to use the newer version of Ruby 1.9.1 and need to
update 9.04 you can go get the debs at:

http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/i386/libruby1.9.1/download
http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/i386/ruby1.9.1-dev/download
http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/i386/ruby1.9.1/download
http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/i386/libreadline-ruby1.9.1/download
http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/all/irb1.9.1/download
http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/all/rdoc1.9.1/download
http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/all/rubygems1.9.1/download

Also, you'll need to re-link the gem command:

sudo ln -sf /usr/bin/gem1.9.1 /etc/alternatives/gem

You'll need to re-install any gems that you might have been using.

The good news is that when Karmic finally releases, it will have the
latest stable of Ruby. Ruby 1.9.0, not so much.
