You should test your memory. All of the data that comes from your CD goes directly into memory. Then the processor checks the data for errors. If your memory is bad. You can get this error.

Subject: [aklug] Ubuntu 64 install

I have been trying to install Ubuntu (9.04/64 bit AMD version) on my
machine and have hit a solid wall. Every time I try I egt media errors
on install. While I could believe that the disk was bad, it happens
everyt time I try to install a 64 bit OS, including XPpro 64.

Any ideas?
