I haven't tested it yet, but I believe if I configure the monitor =20
sections directly in the xorg.conf file, it would address those issues =20
for me...I'll see if I can get to it this week.

I hear Damien in my head saying, ' You shouldn't have to change the =20
xorg.conf file...the new versions of X should do this automatically =20
for you...". And I know that in most cases that is true.

However, I've done a little research and the defaults for the intel =20
chipset I have are a little wierd. There is a reason for why, but I =20
don't buy into it.

No fear, there is a fix:

xrandr --output TMDS-1 --auto
xrandr --output LVDS --auto
xrandr --output LVDS --left-of TMDS-1

For me, this sets the highest available resolution and places the =20
screens in the appropriate spots. YMMV

I think after a little modification of the xorg file, I'll be able to =20
make this happen upon startup. Meanwhile, 'xrandr' to the rescue for =20
dynamic screen modifications.

This is xrandr version 1.3 so it may not work with earlier versions.

I have tried synergy...it is pretty cool...if I remember right, cross =20
platform too!
