I'd like to start discussion of some of the direction that folks want =20
to see AKLUG going.

Some of the areas that deserve attention are:

  - Advocacy of Open Source technologies
  - Education on usage and implementation of Open Source technologies
  - Support for those using Open Source technologies
  - An avenue to socialize with others

We do much of this already, for example:

  - Education: there is a commitment to do presentations at least once month=
ly.
  - Support: quite a few folks show up every Friday night to help =20
whomever is there
  - Socializing: This happens somewhat on the list and definitely on Friday'=
s

I'm confident that advocacy is going on in more of a one-on-one sort =20
of way. It seems reasonable to focus on more group organized efforts.

We know that the school district is starting to test the netbooks and =20
it seems we might be able to step up to whatever challenges they might =20
want to bring to us.

It would be great to do more in all these areas. This does take time =20
and effort, but it seems, as of late, folks are more and more willing.

Let's have an open discussion about what more we can do.

If you feel uncomfortable posting your ideas to the list, please =20
contact me directly.

Mike B.
