[aklug] Checking Firefox/Iceweasel and forcing a refresh

I have a remote kiosk machine that auto-logs on a user, and presents a
Firefox (well Iceweasel) page.

I have dpms turned off so that the display will not go to sleep.

This mostly works fine -- the page is automatically updated and the
machine just stays on displaying information indefinately.

One problem I have found is that if Firefox/Iceweasel cannot update the
page, it shows it's default "Page cannot be updated... Retry" page. The
retry page will stay up forever, waiting for someone to hit the retry
button. Not good for an unattended kiosk without a keyboard. This has
only happened once, and the staff at the remote site just rebooted the
kiosk which fixed it, but that's an extreme solution.

Does anyone know of a method to force Firefox/Iceweasel to retry a page
by itself, with a timer? Something buried in prefs.js perhaps?
