[aklug] Ecartis and escaped symbols (was: Re: OpenWRT)

I have the exact same problem with kmail and the juneau-lug list, also
ecartis.

If I let kmail do word wrapping on it's own, I usually don't see it. However
if I go back and add some text so it re-wraps, I'll see the funny characters.
And if I cut and paste I'll see funny characters too.
