If your using the partitioner built within Ubuntu, it won't designate a
partition for "/". If you don't designate that part in manually during
the partition phase, the install fails. I was stumped by that too when I
started using the distro.

I successfully installed an old version of Mandrake but when I install the latest Ubuntu from the Live CD it fails on creating a / partition. I tried ext3 and ext2. I tried another hard drive, same problem. I pulled out all the unecessary cards, checked all my wires, and reseated the memory. Still no go. Any ideas?
