Some of the best prices I have ever found is at www.cyberpowerpc.com and
it's completely customizable. You can get a very powerful laptop for only
around $1300, for $2500 you could get a really nice laptop. The only bad
thing about them is if you don't use rush service you might be waiting a few
weeks. Heres one of their gaming laptops without any special upgrades
straight from their website:

      $1285.00
DISPLAY LCD: 15.4" Glossy WXGA TFT LCD Display Max: 1280x800 Pixels
      CPU: Mobile AMD TurionT64 X2 Dual-Core TL-56 CPU @ 1.8GHz 2x512KB L2
Cache 64-bit Low Voltage 33Watt
      MOTHERBOARD: NVIDIA C51MV + MCP51 Chipset Mainboard
MEMORY: 2GB (2x1GB) PC5300 DDR2-667 SODIMM Memory (Corsair or Major
Brand)
VIDEO CARD: Built-in MobilityT NVIDIA GeForce GO 7600 256MB
PCI-Express X16 Video
      HARD DRIVE: 160GB 5400RPM SATA150 HARD DRIVE
OPTICAL DRIVE: 8X DVD REWRITABLE DRIVE
      SOUND: BUILT-IN AC 97 SOUND

For an extra $180 you can make that a 2.3 Ghz CPU, $120 for 2 more GB
of Ram.
If you want to pay even more you can get Reflective paint, and even
get 2-tone coloring on the case. But it's pretty expensive for that.
