Have you used it=3F Can you post some output with usage so that we can
see why it's smarter=3F

Here's the deal:

Print the route packets take to network host

Usage: traceroute [Options] [Destination]

Options:
  -h, --help print this help
  -V, --version print version
  -v, --verbose print debug messages
  -Q, --quiet print only results
  -f, --first=5Fttl=3DTTL set the initial ttl to TTL (default: 1)
  -m, --max=5Fttl=3DTTL set the maximum ttl to TTL (default: 30)
  -p, --protocol=3DPROTOCOL use PROTOCOL to send probes (udp, tcp, icmp=
)
                           The default is 'udp'
  -s, --source=5Fport=3DPORT set PORT as source port (default: 33456) =
pid: use PID
  -d, --dest=5Fport=3DPORT set PORT as destination port (default: 33=
457)
  -t, --tos=3DTOS set TOS as type of service (default: 0)
  -w MS wait MS ms between each probe (default: 50ms)
  -T, --timeout=3DMS set a timeout of MS ms on each probe
                           The default is 5000ms
  -q, --query=3DNBR send NBR probes to each host (default: 3)
  -M, --missing=5Fhop=3DHOP stop traceroute after HOP consecutive dow=
n hops
                           The default is 3
  -a, --algo=3DALGO algorithm to use (--algo=3Dhelp for more he=
lp)
                           The default is 'hopbyhop'
  -L, --length=3DLEN set the packet length to be used in outgoin=
g packets
                           The default is 0
  -n print hop addresses numerically
                           The default is to print also hostnames
  -i --ipid print the IP Identifier of the reply
  -l --print=5Fttl print the TTL of the reply
  -F targets file for the MT algo
  -B set the bandwidth in packets/s
  -c number of threads (default 1)
  -E probe multiplier

A lot of handy switches to use.
