Also you may want to look into your graphics card. I use the x600 on
my Dell and version 6.10 had some fits with it. After cruising the
ubuntu forums for that issue I found another user had the same issue
(I took a chance and went with a ati card too) I found I had to enter
my card driver manually by going into the xorg.conf file after
choosing the safe mode gui (while still in live dvd) to get the full
install. Curiously I found that 6.06 installed and ran fine with my
ati/display combo flawlessly. Also I do know that upgrading from
version 6.06 to 6.10 keeps the original .conf files so that maybe
another option too. Bob
