photo app help needed

Greetings,
I have a requirement for one of the websites I have to display photos with both thumbnails and then a standard size display. We would like one the would easy for non technical users who upload the pictures via ftp to a sub-directory and then have the app build thumbnails automatically.

I have used Gallery in the past for this but didn't have to incorporate into an existing site the same way.
So like www.site.com and then www.site.com/photos/ which would be another page with the same look and feel as the home page has.

If anyone has an opensource app to recommend, I am all ears. Thanks,
