LFS Anyone?

I'm in the middle of compiling LFS. I'm hoping to finish by Friday. At
the moment it doesn't look like that's going to happen. I compiled all
day yesterday and this morning. I'm working on Glibc at the moment.

I can now say I've compiled my compiler. :-)

I have to say the LFS documentation is the best I've ever read. There
are a lot of steps involved and so far I haven't had any problems. Well,
I had trouble compiling bash. I was missing a development tool. If you
know your way around a Linux terminal you shouldn't have any trouble
with LFS.

Do I understand what's going on? No!

   1. Things need to be done in order
   2. There are compile time options I've never seen
   3. Some things need to be patched
   4. Some configure scripts are broken and need to be fixed
   5. Some applications/libraries don't have a configure script

How is someone supposed to wrap there mind around all that?

Some time ago I picked up the ORELLY book "Building Embedded LINUX
SYSTEMS". It's a little old. They talk about the 2.4 kernel. I tried to
compare this book with LFS. Some of the same concepts are there. I still
can't wrap my mind around it all.

This stuff could drive a guy to drink. See you at the bar. I here they
have wireless. ;-)
