Word. The RH(6-9) boxes existed before I started, and as they built new
machines, they asked me for my recommendation of distros moving forward. I
said CentOS. MAnagement (who do not manage the systems) said Fedora. Then
as new versions came out, I was instructed to install the newest , but the
old ones weren't upgraded. They wouldn't let me, because of possible
issues in upgrading. ("What about downtime?!?!?!")

They also wouldn't let me upgrade the older systems, making sure they
fragmented things even more. Then they decided they wanted OpenBSD for the
firewalls... luckily, the hardware didn't support it.

What is best for admin and support doesn't always happen :(. At least my
home network is linux distro-and-version-homogenous.
