I'm looking for some software to automatically grab a still image
from a webcam (or other digital camera?) once every hour or so. They
just started construction on a new office building right outside my
office window, and I thought it would be cool to make a time-lapse
video of it over the next few months.
I just bought a logitech quickcam Orbit MP webcam, but upon
installation discovered that the bundled (winXP) software can't do
what I'm looking for. Don't know if I should take it back and get
something else, or if there might be 3rd party software that would
work (free or cheap would be nice. And either linux of WinXP would be
of interest.)
The camera is capable of taking 640x480 and 1.3 MPixel still images,
has a nice wide angle of view, and auto light compensation. I'm
thinking that 1.3 MP would make a %i(way) too huge a video, but it
would be nice to have something a bit better than 640x480 -- 600x800, maybe?
Any hints, tips, tricks, ideas would be appreciated.
