JOB TITLE: System Administrator
STATUS: Full Time, Exempt
LOCATION: Anchorage, Alaska
SALARY: DOE

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Manage hybrid Windows/Linux network and VoIP phone system. Provide
technical troubleshooting and repair on cable TV, wireless internet,
phone and satellite connections.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Collaborates with users to identify IT requirements. Plans and
executes schedule for implementation.
2. Identifies, analyzes, and resolves technical issues as they may
arise. Design, analysis and evaluation of existing and proposed
systems. Manages integration of new technologies and system
enhancements.
3. In cooperation with IT Team, manages installation of OS patches,
system monitoring and tuning, and account maintenance. Also manages
documentation, business continuity planning and testing.
4. Provides technical support, monitoring and management of IT systems
during normal operation.
5. Other responsibilities as appropriate to position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. 4 year college degree in Computer Science or related curriculum. 3
years work experience.
2. MCSE or similar certification with 2 years experience as network
administrator.
3. 2 years Linux network experience. Telephony and VoIP experience a plus.
4. Programming experience a plus; prefer C++, Visual Basic or JAVA.
5. Strong, hands on experience with Cable TV plant, satellite
communications and wireless infrastructure.
6. Excellent communication, customer service and organizational
skills. Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
Professional appearance, energetic, takes pride in work. Outstanding
problem solving skills.
7. Experience working in rural Alaska. Experience with rural
telecommunications a plus. Willing to travel throughout Alaska and
lower 48 as required.
