Sounds like when a couple of my nephews came for a visit a while back when Napster was still all the rage.
They managed to turn my Sisters CPU into a primary server (She shares my Internet connection).

Had the TX/RX lights on my dsl modem locked on. I saw no blinking whatsoever. It took me a couple of days to clean up her box. Napster plus a the viri/adware/spyware that came with it.
