Thanks for the suggestions. The retail slot I cpu from Intel, SECC
package, has an attached heatsink and the fan is part of the plastic
housing that is a 'shroud; over the heatsink. AFAIKT, if the fan goes
you can replace the fan/shroud, but I doubt such a thing exists at this
late date. You can remove the factory heatsink,there are third party
parts available, you just need to use a drill to do it, something I am
a little hestitant to do until the fan actually dies.
