Oh...I didn't know that. ASUAF (http://asuaf.org) has been using one in their
web server for two years now, and everything has gone well. Two drives on
it, Linux RAID 1, works great. But I guess YMMV. This is one sysadmin that
hasn't been burned by them...so you can't say that anymore. :)
AH!! Just re-read your message. We aren't using a Promise RAID card. We're
using a Promise IDE card, doing the RAID via Linux. So, if there is buggy
RAID code, we aren't using it. As far as I know, their straight IDE
controllers are pretty good.
