I have personally used USR Externals for years but their 100$ price tag is too steep for the station so I was wondering if any used ones of any make that are compatible out-of-the-box are out there? We could pay a little but not much. I could pick up Thursday in Anchorage....I also looked for PCI versions in town but all the brands I remembered from a couple years ago were not easily found. I have glanced at the Linux-Compatible hardware lists to refresh my memory but Anchorage stores I looked at didn't seem to carry them. Did not check the used store on 36th however.

Bill: You'll find that the local salvation army and similar shops
usually have a modem or two kicking around. the one on Dimond had a 33.6
or something, external, for 5 bucks or so. The others around town are
certain to have one or two.
