ACS DSL with Gentoo

I'm installing Gentoo on a friend's computer and he has DSL from ACS. The
network card works, but when I run adsl-start (after using adsl-setup) it
ends on "TIMED OUT." From the logs, I see something about "Anchorage" so I
assume that it made some kind of communication with the server. Has anyone
had any experience setting up ACS DSL with Gentoo? I'm using the RP_PPPOE
tools and have PPP and PPPOE in the kernel.
