Subject: Barracuda Spam Firewall

We have extensive spam filtering in-house. We use SpamGuard, RBL's,
SpamAssassin, RAV Virus Scan,
and many other tools to help curb the spam here at ShreveNet. It has
taken considerable work to integrate
all these tools into nice control panel/user interfaces, and it takes
alot to stay on top of it.

We recently got a Barracuda Spam Firewall 400, and I couldn't be
happier with it.

Here are some stats from just turning it up a few days ago:

                                Total Today This Hour
Blocked 4520482 398961 17453
Blocked: Virus 15248 1719 62
Allowed: Tagged 141932 15609 462
Allowed 450576 38526 1745
Total Received 5128238 454815 19722

The amount of knobs you have control of are quite handy.

There is per user control, you can brand it to your own logo,
users have a nice control panel, very good logging capibilties
(gui and syslog), there is an API so you can script things into it
until your heart is content, its just working very well.

I only have a few feature requests / gripes, but those are minimal,
and for the most part I think this is the best thing out there right
now.

I have the settings set to very conservative, and only 10% of mail is
allowed
thru! There are no false positives (to any degree that i have seen),
however
even from the little 10% we allow thru, some of it is still spam, so I
may do some
tweaking, but for global settings its quite good and I can let
customers tweak there own.

About $4000 for the Spam Firewall 400, but a good deal. RAV Virus scan
cost us several
thousand dollars just in itself.

Also, I only have the box setup for a few domains, we handle over 800
domains email here
and it will be quite interesting as i turn up more and more.
