Well, this has been an interesting discussion, and certainly is an
excellent example of YMMV <g>.

My nickel:

I use xfs almost exclusively except for /boot partitions, which I use
ext2 on.

I have had troubles with ext3, enough so that I don't use it anymore. I
used to try to use it on the root partition because of all the ext2
utils and rescue stuff, but about the n-th time it barfed, I finally
decided to just go xfs on the root as well.

As far as raid+xfs goes, I'm using it in a mirrored software raid
(raid2?) on a redhat 7.2 box that is working as an unattended mail
server for a Really Long Time now with no troubles.=20
