Subject: backup up, ghosting a Winxp machine

I've been googling and looking through the archives trying to see if I
can backup quickly a Windows XP pro machine using something like dd.
I've tried:
dd if=//10.10.10.1/C$ | gzip > /tmp/win-backup
and I get a file or directory not found. I tried
smbclient -L 10.10.10.1
and I get Sharenames like
IPC$
print$
ADMIN$
C$
and a few others, hence the C$ above.
I'm not knowing what I'm doing here much, just trying to backup a couple machines once.
Maybe someone has a better idea. It would be best to somehow copy direct to CDR. This is
over a lan, a couple routers.
I don't know have direct access to the windows boxes but do have the admin passwords and other
user passwords.
Just can't learn this stuff quick enough.
cheers, Jim
