Tim,
One other thing I just remembered. This distro has kind of a 'gotcha' in
respect of kernel installs.
Gentoo, by default, doesn't leave the boot partition mounted. If you
compile a new kernel, you MUST mount the boot partition to /boot before
copying bzImage. Otherwise, you're just copying to to the ether.
My first gentoo install I spend 2 days compiling and reinstalling the
kernel to no avail before find this out from their lists.
