I think what I'm looking for is something called "setuid" and in my case "setuid root".
To get on the Internet I open up an xterm, log in as root and run "pon dial". This brings up ppp and wvdial. Each program in the dialup process needs to run as root. I have tried to run it as a user and it doesn't work.
How do I "setuid root" the ppp stuff so users can run "pon dial"?
