I just remembered that when I did my first cat 5 network system for a gov
hospital in 1990, we used and speced our criteria to information provided by
"black box"...
http://www.blackbox.com/
their hardcopy catalog was a treasure trove of information. I don't know
what it is like now.

I am sure there is a written spec somewhere but fwiw 36" min distance was an
industry standard as far back as 1990 when I became involved in networking.
I have used shorter cables with no problem but all bets are off!

Chris,

Is there a written spec somewhere that talks about this? Can you point
me to it?
