Hi,

The Network Users Group of Anchorage (NUGA) is sponsoring a seminar by
networking and security expert Laura Chappell entitled "Network Analysis,
Troubleshooting and Cybercrime". This two-day seminar (9-10 June 2003)
will cover

* analysis of the TCP, UDP, and IP protocols
* throughput/latency testing
* network scanning and probing
* packet analysis
* traffic filtering
* setting up "honeypots"

Who should attend:

* network administrators
* network designers
* security specialists
* network analysts
* ... and those who are curious about how TCP/IP works at the packet level

An executive summary of the seminar can be found at
http://www.nuga.org/seminar_chappell2003/executive_summary.html. The
course outline is at
http://www.nuga.org/seminar_chappell2003/course_outline.html.

The event details are:

When: June 9th and 10th, 2003
Where: Anchorage Downtown Hilton
Cost: $795 USD
Online registration form:
https://www.nuga.org/cgi-bin/chappell_registration.cgi
Registration deadline: May 15, 2003

I realize the registration fee is a bit steep, but it is a discount over
what Laura normally charges. If you would like to register and need help
convincing your employer to pay for it, please contact me at
<gmcharlt@panix.com> and I will arrange for a member of NUGA's executive
board to contact you.

Linux advocacy disclaimer: as far as I can tell from the course outline,
the content of the seminar is pretty much vendor-neutral. However, the
specific network analysis products that Laura will demo run on Windows. Of
course, there are any number of Open Source network analysis tools available.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me
privately. I am also subscribed to this mailing list.

Regards,

Galen Charlton
