I missed the rest of the converstation, but mounting an image (whether it's an
iso, partition, floppy, etc.) is done as simply as:

  mount -o loop cdimage.iso /mnt

That assumes you've already grabbed an image of your cd using the cat or dd
command, etc., and saved it as cdimage.iso.
