Thanks for the interesting information. More stuff to digest.
Replies through-out your note:

We don't have any available old hardware here except maybe one or two..
scrounging some up would cost too so I have to keep that in mind.

I am on my last semester of the CCNA so I'm getting the basics. I just
don't have time to get fully involved due to other job duties. I've been
playing with Linux here for a year or two as well.

These are the MM300S modems that I believe will max out at 768k here.
There are Win2k, WinXP, and a couple W98 boxes around. Not many users in
remote offices. Mostly two or three or so, average. (Although there are
a couple departments within Cat5 range I could tie into one closet- for
a max of maybe 5 or 6 users at once). Hate to spend too much on that few
of users. However, we could eventually tie in our convention areas which
could have more users at once. But that's another story for the future.
Or a library situation.

Ok, I got those off the Cisco website I think, but could have been
misled easily by that website. I'm not familiar with pps rates anyway..
not sure how that relates to speed 'feel' if at all.

Cheers, Jim
