The -engine version is not needed for regular use. In the FAQ somewhere,
it mentions that that version is for certain kinds of crypto hardware, or
something.

As for the old version showing up, did the new one get installed in a
different place? For example, /usr/local/bin, where the old one is
still in /usr/bin? Just a thought.
