If you are using DHCP to get your IP address from the ISP, and RedHat 7.3,
you will want to edit the ifcfg-eth0 file in the
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts directory and change or add PEERDNS=no. I
think that will then leave your resolv.conf file alone for you to edit and
make how you want it.
