How are you connecting, and _Why_ are you rebooting?

If you are connecting via ppp (modem) usually the ppp connection script
makes temporary but overriding entries to /etc/resolv.conf and the ppp
script needs the proper information.

If it is cable, it should be very automatic, ditto if it is dhcp on a
local net. The remaining possibility would be pppoe/DSL which might be
overriddden by some settings in rp-pppoe when connection is made.

My server here is up for 135 days, and the main working machine behind
the server/gateway is

[tester@v5 tester]$ uptime
  6:43pm up 35 days, 3:24, 2 users, load average: 0.10, 0.09, 0.02
[tester@v5 tester]$

And the last time it was down was when I added a sound card.
