Only I can cause so many problems so quickly. Well, the good news is that I
got my kernel recompiled with minimal errors. I can now Access NTFS
partitions, and it seems to work rather well. Other than the fact that my
registry got corrupted again, but I doubt that had any relation to Linux.
I can mount my primary hard drive which is duel-booting to windows 2k with
NTFS. I just found that my other 2 hard drives are under '/dev/hdg' and
'/dev/hdh' by observing the startup. But I cannot mount them. When I do an
fdisk, they show as type SHS. What is this? They are dynamic disks, formatted
as NTFS. But I cannot see the seperate partitions in Linux. Does anybody have
any experience with Dynamic disks in Linux?
I have been playing with WineX...has potential. But so far I can't get a
single game to work properly. Most lock out the keyboard and mouse. Does
anybody have access to a new version of the WineX software, and possibly
experience in setting it up? The settings seem to have no effect when I
change them.
Last, I managed to screw up JAVA. It's installed, but when I go to my page
for example it says "error: java executable not found". Now...I have
downloaded and installed 3 other versions of JAVA but they aren't making a
difference.
I am constantly working on and researching all of these issues. But I could
really use some help. I need to get away from - *shudder* - windows. I need
JAVA to use ICQ. I need to access my hard drives for MP3's and database
stuff. I need WineX for games. All the essentials. Any help is appreciated.
