GNUCash ( http://www.gnucash.org ) is a good one. It's seems to be
aimed more at accounting than at just checkbook balancing.
I've heard that is is very difficult to install, due to it's large
number of dependencies, but simce it comes with RedHat, I haven't had to
deal with any install issues.
Note that I do not use it myself. I use Moneydance. I want just a
check book balancing program, so GNUCash is overkill for me.
