Are you trying to sell them on Linux (can we assume these are all "Windows"
PC users?)? If so, it might be advantageous to structure your presentation
around a "similarities/dissimilarities" standpoint, where for a while you
talk about how Linux is similar to Windows and then you talk about how it's
different. It would probably be good include something about pricing
structure, since most of the Windows folks out there look around CompUSA and
say "Linux is free? I don't see free." Red Hat Pro, for example, costs
$199--more than XP! Small, efficient OS? SuSE 8.0 is three CD's, with over
a gigabyte of hard disk space of stuff! Yes, there are good pro-Linux
answers to these statements, and if your audience vict...er, members...are
WinAddicts you might want to consider bringing them up in your
presentation--anticipate the objections. If they're mostly users, talk
about the software that's become available for Linux; perhaps show them
screen shots of OpenOffice, or Mah-Johnng, or whatever they might get the
most use out of. If they're mostly sysadmins, talk about what they can do
in a Linux network that solves the same problems as what they do in a
Microsoft network. You've gotta do a little intell (G-2 for us old Army
folks) work up front to find out where your audience will be coming from and
what their opinions/objections are likely to be, and *in a positive manner*
address those in your discussion. That's if you're trying to sell. If
you're trying to teach, then do a class. If you're trying to entertain,
pictures of your last fishing trip might be good (or not) <grin>.
