I wonder of you're using a desktop that has a gui
sound server deal like KDe has. I would start with
that, because it's one of the very little things that
I know of. Maybe there is a script set by the desktop
sound server that is hosed.
Next I'd try a google for 'slackware sound'. And try
the 'linux on laptops' website. Wish I knew more. I
don't know slackware.
