I found another rpm manager that seems ok...it is called poldek.
It behaves similar to apt-get as well. You can find it here:

There is also an apt application in rpm form. You can find it here:
I like poldek because it didn't require an apt repository to work. There
may be a way to host your own apt-repository, but it wasn't readily apparent
(I spent a total of 10 minutes looking at the apt package....so I wasn't
very thorough)
Give these a try and let me know what you think...I am trying poldek at this
point.
